Shooting Exercise #8 - Narrative

I decided to use an apple couple in my narrative this week.  But be warned, one image is pretty graphic... ;)

  1. I can see that you had a lot of fun with this exercise - and I had fun looking at it! Very clever... Great use of tableau and great sense of humor! Normally I might comment that having just one black and white image makes that image feel out of place in the series - but because it's the "graphic crash scene" it reminds me of films like "Kill Bill" in which the graphic, bloody scenes are in black and white - very funny! Nice work and use of play this week!

  2. I absolutely love this concept! This is adorable. I really love that you used plain apples in a 'real life' story. I think the images do a great job of telling a narrative. The only thing I wish had made it a bit more consistent was that the first two photos, the green apple doesn't have a bow on its head - I'm not sure if that was intentional or not, but that is the only thing that stood out to me as feeling disconnected. I love all the angles and the lighting. You did a fantastic job!

  3. I also think using the apples was a cute and creative idea. Both the red and the green apple add a nice color contrast throughout the collection. I also admire how you used the space and composition of each individual photograph. Nothing is overexposed and all of the information your viewers need is presented. I think you did a great job of story telling. I actually went "Oh no!" when I saw the injury in the black and white photograph. The apples made really interesting characters.

  4. I really love your concept! You were able to make a cute short story within the seven pictures. I agree with Annemarie about your choice of using red and green apples for contrast and the composition of your images. The choice of lighting in your images were done well to match the story. Your black and white image of the accident is very interesting but I wished the image had a slightly stronger contrast.

  5. I absolutely love your photos this week:)! Its a very creative idea and it turned out really well. i like how the main focus is apples but yet they have a humanistic quality and feeling about them in these compositions. The two apples touching really does come across as a feeling of love and affection even though they are just objects. Also, i really love the use of lighting and shadows in the third photograph. Overall these are very cute and well done:)!

  6. Seriously freaking cute. How apples may be cute it funny to think of bout you made it! The composition of the images in your narrative seem very commercial to me - the lighting, focusing, editing and such. It's beautifully done! The narrative seems like something I should be finding on Pinterest. You could take this concept and do so much with it.
