Shooting Exercise #3 - Considering Color

Here are my photos for this week's exercise.  I found a huge variety of colors at the Antique Mall in Waukesha.

This hat has a happy and cheerful tone to it because of the bright yellow color.
This reds in this chair give a very luxurious feel especially mixed with the gold.

The purple in this image is kind of ironic because it is very far from luxurious or royal.
The bright blue hue gives a cool, calm, and collected vibe.

The brass has it's own antique feeling to it.

  2. You got them in on time! And the red chair is a great contribution so I'm glad that you were able to get that one up on time!

  3. These last couple of exercises your series have appeared to be one of the stronger ones in class. This series in particular, the colors really pop out in each of the images and I love how you are able to bring to life objects that normally get overlooked or not noticed in stores like these. Especially in the third picture with the purple wood stain I think is intriguing how you loomed in particular area like as if someone had spilled it intentionally or its caught in motion. Also the description fit well with your images. Look forward to seeing more of your work.

  4. The colors are really vibrant and I think the sunglasses reflection is unique it kind of looks like the reflection is like a heat map, also the first image does give off a bright happy tone to the hat, kind of like the type of weather you would want to wear that hat in!

  5. Great exploration of color this week. A couple of small, technical things to consider: watch your focus - the first image of the hat seems just slightly soft in focus. Not enough for it to seem like it was purposeful, just slightly. In the image of the sunglasses, I'm a bit unsure about the left side of the image being blown out white. It seems as if it either needs to be more blown out - so that it feels more purposeful - or it needs to be better exposed so that there is some information in that space. I love the "purple" image! Great depth of field and use of color in a scene... The red chair and the brass pots also work really well for this exercise. Their varied compositions and view points make them quite dynamic.
